Chandigarh, June 16 -- The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) today announced that no Sikh pilgrim jatha will be sent to Pakistan this year to mark the death anniversary of Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh, scheduled for June 29.
SGPC Secretary Pratap Singh stated that although pilgrims had submitted their passports for the pilgrimage, due to ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan and restrictions/directions issued by the Indian government, the SGPC has decided not to send the Jatha this time. UNI GS SSP
