Chandigarh, Aug. 24 -- Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar today urged Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to refrain from "misleading" the public, asserting that no ration cards have been cancelled by the Central Government.
Jakhar highlighted that union Minister Pralhad Joshi has already clarified the situation, dismissing claims of cancellations.
Addressing the issue, Jakhar explained that the Central Government is only implementing the Supreme Court's directive for e-KYC verification of ration cards to ensure transparency. He noted that 1.41 crore people in Punjab are currently receiving rations under the National Food Security Act, and the Centre has granted the state three extensions to complete the e-KYC process.
