Bengaluru, Dec. 29 -- Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Monday asserted that the state government would take strict action against "land thieves" as he visited Kogilu Fakir Colony in north Bengaluru, where an anti-encroachment and illegal house demolition drive is underway.

Speaking to the media at the site, Shivakumar said the land in question had been used for solid waste management for the past nine to ten years, but sheds and houses were put up overnight by encroachers. He said no voter list or legal documents existed for the structures built on government land and added that local MLAs had also brought the issue to the government's notice.
