Guwahati, June 1 -- With the rains still continuing, flood situation is becoming grim in Assam.
The data of the central water commission department indicated that water levels of the Brahmaputra river and some of its tributaries are rising in different places across the state.
With the water levels of Brahmaputra river flowing above danger level in some areas, the government has suspended the ferry service between Nimatighat and Majuli Island to avoid any unfortunate incident.
The Central Water Commission (CWC) report on June 1 morning said that Brahmaputra, Burhidehing, Barak and some other rivers are flowing above danger level, with reports of water levels rising in many places.
