Chennai, March 17 -- A No Confidence Motion moved by the Principal Opposition AIADMK against Tami Nadu Assembly Speaker M Appavu was defeated in the House on Monday.
The motion was defeated by a margin of 91 votes, with 154 members voting against it and 63 in support of it.
The motion, moved by Deputy Leader of the Opposition R B Udhayakumar and seconded by former
Minister and AIADMK member S P Velumani, was defeated by voice vote and division, Deputy Speaker K Pitchandi announced after leaders of ruling DMK's allies and the Leader of the Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswmi (AIADMK) spoke on the No Trust motion.
The members of the PMK and the BJP were absent during the discussion on the motion, which was subsequently defeated.
