New Delhi, Dec. 17 -- In a frantic bid to escape from worsening pollution, Delhi government directed office goers to work from home and suspended classes for children up to class 5.

The government on Wednesday also got a nod from SC to penalise vehicles that do not meet BS IV emission standards, a breather from court's earlier order that barred government from taking any coercive action just on the ground that the vehicle was old.

The Supreme Court also declined to entertain a plea challenging "no school" order of the government which contended that such order benefits only affluent classes while children of ordinary people breathe the same foul air sitting home.
