Patna, March 30 -- Chief Minister Nitish Kumar resigned from the membership of the Bihar Legislative Council on Monday following his election to the Rajya Sabha.

Bihar Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Chaudhary acompanied by JDU leaders Sanjay Gandhi and Sanjay Shroff submitted the resignation letter of Kumar to the Council Chairman of the council Awadhesh Narayan Singh, in compliance with rules governing dual membership.

Kumar would continue to serve as the chief minister even after relinquish the membership of Bihar Legislative Council.

Kumar was elected to the Rajya Sabha on March 16 and as per the rules governing dual membership, a member elected to another legislative body must relinquish their existing membership within 14 days...
