Patna, June 21 -- Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday announced a hefty hike in the social security pension for the elderly, disabled, and widows ahead of assembly elections due in October-November this year.

Kumar made the announcement on his social media account X on Saturday. The Bihar Chief Minister Social Security Pension Scheme beneficiaries including elderly, disabled, and widows will now get a pension of Rs 1,100 instead of Rs 400 every month. The increased pension would be given from the month of July, Nitish said.

The CM stated that it will be ensured that this amount is sent to the bank accounts of all the beneficiaries on the 10th of each month. This will help 1 crore 9 lakh 69 thousand 255 beneficiaries, Kumar added...
