Patna, Oct. 15 -- Bihar's ruling Janata Dal (United) has announced its first list of 57 candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections. The party has dropped several sitting MLAs and introduced 30 new faces. Among the 27 renominated candidates are many of the party's loyal and long-serving leaders, including five ministers.
JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar's decision to introduce 30 fresh candidates is being viewed as a strategic move to counter anti-incumbency. The party has also given ample opportunity to youth. In a surprising move, it has fielded only four women candidates.
