Chennai, Sept. 29 -- union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today visitedKarur and inspected the stampede venue at Veluchamypuram where 40 people werekilled during the political rally of TVK Founder and actor Vijay on Saturday night.
More than 80 people were injured in the tragedy and were admitted to KarurGovernment Medical College and various private hospitals.
The deceased included 17 women, 14 men and nine children (five girls and fourboys).
The incident shook the entire nation as condolences poured in from all top nationalleaders.
