New Delhi, Jan. 29 -- The Supreme Court on Wednesday turned down the petition filed by one of the Nirbhaya case death row convicts, Mukesh Kumar Singh, against rejection of his mercy plea by the President.

A three-judge bench of the Apex Court, headed by Justice R Banumathi, said, ''All the relevant documents and material of the case were placed before the President, who took all relevant records into account before dismissing the mercy plea.'' On Mukesh being tortured inside the prison, the Apex Court, said, this can't be a ground to review the President's order.
