Malappuram, May 8 -- A 42-year-old woman from Vlancherry has been admitted in a hospital at the Perinthalmanna town of Kerala's Malappuram district, after being infected with the Nipah Virus, on Thursday.

The test result received from National Institute of Virology (NIV) Pune and Kozhikode Microbiology confirmed she was infected with the virus.

She has been admitted for the last four days in the same hospital with high fever and cough and breathing problems and sent the samples for testing at Kozhikode and NIV labs which confirmed the viral infection.

Two more family members of the same house were also showing fever . More details were awaited including to prepare the primary contact list.
