Dharamshala, Aug. 21 -- A landslide occurred today on the Khada Danda Road connecting Dharamshala with McLeodganj, the seat of Tibetan Spiritual Leader the Dalai Lama.
The landslide poses a threat to the pillars of the Dharamshala-McLeodganj Ropeway project, and the authorities were forced to stop the Ropeway activities in the public interest.
Khada Danda Road was blocked. However, the PWD authorities pressed dozers into service to clear the road.
Deputy Commissioner Kangra Hemraj Bairwa visited the site and told UNI that PWD and the Rural Development Department have been assigned the work to trace out seepage following heavy rains and directed them to take remedial measures.
