Moscow/Kyiv, June 11 -- At least three people were killed and 60 others injured in Russian drone strikes on Ukraine's second-largest city Kharkiv early Wednesday, said Kharkiv's regional governor Oleg Synegubov.

The governor said on Telegram that over nine children, aged between 2 and 15 years old, were among those injured.

Synegubov further said the attacks sparked fires in the Slobidskyi and Osnovianskyi districts and damaged residential high-rise buildings, private homes and public transportation infrastructure.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that 17 Shahed-type combat drones targeted the city in less than 10 minutes overnight. Search and rescue operations at the strike sites were ongoing as of Wednesday morning.
