Thrissur, April 22 -- The death toll in the fireworks explosion at Mundathikkode in Thrissur continues to be assessed as rescue and identification efforts progress, with nine bodies recovered so far, District Collector Shikha Surendran said on Wednesday.

According to officials, seven of the recovered bodies are intact, while the condition of others has made identification difficult. Three victims have been identified as Sudarshan (54) of Pazhayannur, Vasudevan (54) from Kallur in Palakkad district, and Suvin (39) of Kundanur. Their bodies have been handed over to their relatives.
