Tura, April 2 -- District authorities of West Garo Hills in Meghalaya has lifted the night curfew imposed across the district following a significant improvement in the law and order situation.

The curfew, which had been in force since March 19, was initially imposed under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, following concerns over the law and order situation.

In an order issued on April 1, District Magistrate Vibhor Aggarwal said the night curfew was lifted after normalcy has substantially been restored and the law and order situation is presently under control.

However, the district administration has urged residents to maintain peace, public order and communal harmony.
