Shillong, Oct. 10 -- A night curfew has been imposed in the entire Assam-Meghalaya border areas within West Jaintia Hills district on Thursday night, following clashes between groups took place in the Lapangap area, a disputed area between both the states.

A 45-year-old Karbi man identified as Orivel Timung died in the border skirmish which occurred when Pnar villagers from Meghalaya were harvesting their crops in Lapangap.

District Magistrate of West Jaintia Hills Abhinav Kumar Singh imposed the night curfew from 6 p.m. to 10 a.m under section 163 BNSS in the entire Assam-Meghalaya border areas within the district in view of the developing situation in the inter-state border areas as there is a likelihood of breach of law and order which...
