Tura, Jan. 1 -- Night curfew has been reimposed along the India-Bangladesh border in West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya due to the current situation in Bangladesh and to prevent infiltration, militant movement, and illegal cross-border activities.

District Magistrate of West Garo Hills, Mary Lisa K. Marak, has enforced the night curfew from 6 p.m to 5 a.m daily covering a 200-meter radius from the zero Line of the international border within the West Garo Hills.

"There is every likelihood of cross border movement of unwanted elements, members of banned militant groups, smugglers and those carrying out other illegal activities," the order, issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), stated.
