Kochi, Sept. 28 -- A National Investigation Agency Court here on Monday sentenced Subahani Haja Moideen to life imprisonment for joining ISIS ( Islamic State of Iraq and Syria ) and waging a war against Asian countries.
Judge P Krishna Kumar also slapped a fine of Rs one lakh against him. It is the first case in Kerala registered by NIA against an ISIS member for waging war against the neighbouring countries.
According to the chargesheet, Subahani (34) a native of Thodupuzha, entered Iraq in 2015, joined ISIS, received weapons training and was deployed with others on the battle field near Mosul in Iraq.
