New Delhi, Sept. 27 -- The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has chargesheeted the main assailant in the Palakkad Sreenivasan murder case linked to the banned Popular Front of India (PFI).
Shamnad E.K., alias Shamnad Ellikkal, has been charged under various sections of the IPC and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in a supplementary chargesheet filed before the NIA Special Court in Ernakulam, Kerala.
The accused, arrested in April this year after a three-year-long hunt, is among 71 persons identified in the case. So far, 65 have been chargesheeted. Shamnad, a trained cadre of the PFI's "Service Wing" tasked with carrying out terrorist acts, had carried a reward of Rs 7 lakh while evading arrest.
