Lucknow, Aug. 18 -- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), India, has taken suo motu cognizance of a disturbing incident of alleged corporal punishment inflicted by a teacher on a Class 3 student at a government-run primary school in Gautam Budh Nagar district, Uttar Pradesh and served notice to the state government. The incident reportedly resulted in a fractured shoulder, requiring surgical intervention.

According to a media report published on August 7, 2025, the young boy initially did not disclose the cause of his injury, but his reluctance to attend school for several days raised concerns. It was only after his younger brother revealed that the injury was caused by a teacher's beating with a stick that the matter came to light....
