New Delhi, July 26 -- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of media reports regarding the death of a 50-year-old labourer who was buried alive while digging a sewer pit in the premises of a power house in Ajmer district of Rajasthan, on July 14.
The NHRC has issued notices to the Chief Secretary of Rajasthan and the Commissioner of Police, Ajmer, seeking a detailed report within two weeks, the Commission said in a statement today.
The Commission has observed that the contents, if true, raise a serious violation of human rights of the victim, the statement said.
