New Delhi, Aug. 18 -- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognisance of a corporal punishment case resulting into fractured shoulder of a student studying in a government primary school in Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Budh Nagar.
According to the media report dated August 7, the young boy, who had not initially disclosed the incident, refused to attend school for three to four days following the injury.
It was only through his younger brother that the parents came to learn that the injury resulted from being beaten with a stick by the teacher, said a statement from the NHRC today.
