New Delhi, Sept. 29 -- Following delayed compensation and rehabilitation of victims of an LPG tanker blast in a Hoshiarpur village, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notices to the Punjab chief secretary, Hoshiarpur senior superintendent of police, and the chief controller of explosives, PESO, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, seeking a detailed report within two weeks.
The NHRC's suo motu notice follows media reports highlighting that despite the tragic incident over a month ago resulting in seven deaths and extensive property damage, many affected families continue to struggle to rebuild their homes and shops.
