New Delhi, Sept. 18 -- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notices to the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police, Uttar Pradesh, calling for a detailed report within two weeks over the reported burning of a woman by a group of people in Farrukhabad district.

The Commission has taken suo motu cognizance of the incident, said the country's top rights body in a statement issued here today.

The report is expected to include details of the action taken against the perpetrators and information about compensation, if any, provided to the next of kin of the deceased.
