New Delhi, Oct. 7 -- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) today said that it has issued notices to the Chief Secretary, Government of Madhya Pradesh, and the Superintendent of Police, Jabalpur, following the reported deaths of two children due to electrocution at a Durga Puja pandal in Jabalpur district.

The children, aged 8 and 10 years, reportedly died on September 24, 2025, after coming into contact with an iron pipe connected to negligently installed electric wires by the organisers of the pandal, noted the top rights body citing media reports.

The NHRC has taken suo motu cognizance of the media reports and called for a detailed report from the State authorities within two weeks, including the status of the investigation. The C...
