Kendrapara, Aug. 20 -- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) today sought an additional and complete report within four weeks from the Superintendent of Police (SP), Ganjam,
on the brutal assault of a Dalit man from Singipur by self-proclaimed cow vigilantes allegedly
affiliated with the Bajrang Dal.
The Commission passed the order after acting on a petition filed by human rights defender Sagar Kumar Jena of Kendrapara.
According to the petition, Babula Naik, a Dalit resident of Singipur village under Dharakote block in Ganjam district, was brutally assaulted on June 22, 2025, by a group of cow vigilantes claiming affiliation with the Bajrang Dal.
