Kinnaur, Aug. 31 -- Continuous heavy rainfall has triggered multiple landslides and road subsidence on National Highway-5 (NH-5) in Kinnaur district, Himachal Pradesh, on Friday night, resulting in the complete blockage of the highway at several locations.

By Saturday morning, traffic came to a standstill at Nigulsari and Nathpa slide points, cutting off Reckong Peo, the district headquarters, and upper Kinnaur from the rest of the state and country.

At Nigulsari, road subsidence blocked the stretch, while at Nathpa, massive boulders rolled down the hillside. An alternate route via the dam site, which had been operational earlier, was also shut down after a fresh landslide on Saturday, bringing traffic to a complete halt for several hours...
