Shimla, Dec. 5 -- National Green Tribunal (NGT) has ordered an inquiry into complaints made by villagers of Wire in Tilli Panchayat, Mandi district, about the alleged illegal operation of the Mahalaxmi Stone Crusher.
The Tribunal took suo-motu action after receiving a letter from villager Netar Singh and others, and registered the matter as Original Application No. 599/2025.
During the hearing on December 4, 2025, the NGT noted that the villagers had raised serious concerns relating to environmental damage. They alleged that the stone crusher has been running without a valid lease since 2014, continues to carry out unscientific mining, and has caused pollution, loss of water sources, soil erosion, and damage to orchards and village roads....
