Shimla, July 23 -- National Green Tribunal (NGT) has disposed of a case against two mining companies, M/s Jai Singh Thakur & Sons and M/s Balbir Singh Supa Ram, after finding substantial performance with its earlier directives on illegal and absurd mining in Sirmaur district. The case, based on a complaint by Dinesh Kumar, alleged that the two firms were causing environmental damage in the village of Banor, Tehsil Paonta Sahib, due to hazardous mining practices. A joint committee was set up to inspect the sites and recommend curative measures, including the construction and repair of retaining walls, proper waste dumping, and retrieval of mining areas.
