Kannur, Dec. 26 -- Newly-elected CPI(M)-led LDF councilor of Payyanur Municipality, V K Nishad, who was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment, in a case involving a bomb attack on a police vehicle on August 1, 2012, and lodged at Kannur Central jail on November 25, was granted a six-day parole from Kannur Central jail, on Friday evening.
The parole granted to a convicted person within a month has created a row in the political arena of Kannur.
V K Nishad (35) of Vellur, who has been unable to take his oath as councilor from Mottammal ward number 46 in Payyanur Municipality, due to his imprisonment, on the scheduled date held last week.
