Kolkata, July 14 -- Ashim Ghosh, who has been appointed Haryana Governor, is a veteran BJP political leader and academician who led the saffron outfit in West Bengal during the dying stages of the last millennium to the early years of the current one.

The announcement of Ghosh's new role was formally made by Rashtrapati Bhavan today, alongside a few other gubernatorial appointments across the country.

Born in 1944 in Howrah, Ghosh studied at Howrah Vivekananda Institution before graduating in Political Science from Vidyasagar College, Kolkata. He later completed his Master's degree in the same subject from the University of Calcutta.
