Wellington, March 3 -- Georgia Plimmer has been ruled out of New Zealand's home ODI series against Zimbabwe women's national cricket team after sustaining a shoulder injury during the preceding T20I series.

According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), fellow batter Bella James, who was drafted in as injury cover for Plimmer during the T20Is, will remain with the squad as her replacement for the 50-over matches.

Head coach Ben Sawyer expressed disappointment at losing a key top-order player but backed James to step up.

"Georgia is a key player for us at the top of the order, and the energy she brings into the group is something we really value, so it's a shame to have her miss this next series," Sawyer said.
