Shimla, Jan. 1 -- The New Year 2026 ushered in cold weather across Himachal Pradesh, with light snowfall reported from Koksar in the tribal district of Lahaul-Spiti, while the rest of the state remained largely dry under mainly cloudy skies.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Shimla, Koksar received about 1.7 cm of snowfall during the past 24 hours, while Gondla recorded around 0.3 cm, marking the only significant wintry activity in the state.
Elsewhere, no rainfall or snowfall was reported, but temperatures dipped sharply, intensifying winter conditions, especially during the night and early morning hours.
