Washington/ New Delhi, Oct. 4 -- Belgian filmmaker Michiel Blanchart has officially been tapped to direct the next installment in the Final Destination franchise, following the record-breaking success of Final Destination: Bloodlines, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Originally directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, Bloodlines explored the chilling origins of Death's infamous chain of cause-and-effect.

The story followed Stefanie, a college student tormented by violent recurring nightmares, who returns home in search of the one person who might help her break the deadly cycle threatening her family.
