Haveri, May 26 -- A new form of cyber fraud has come to light in Karnataka's Haveri district, with criminals operating through a mobile application named Donald Trump Rental App, police said on Monday. According to Superintendent of Police Anshu Kumar, the fraudsters lure victims by asking them to download the app, claiming it offers lucrative returns. Users are initially asked to pay a registration fee of around Rs 1,500. To gain their trust, the app immediately refunds Rs 500 and continues to transfer small daily amounts of Rs 30-50. "Once confidence is built, the fraudsters introduce a so-called higher return scheme that requires a larger registration amount. After collecting substantial sums, the culprits abscond," Kumar said.
