Shimla, Sept. 10 -- The union Government has informed the Himachal Pradesh High Court that growing unrest in Nepal has compelled Indian diplomats to put the ongoing treaty negotiations for the exchange of absconding criminals on hold.

The Himachal Pradesh High Court yesterday deferred hearings in a set of criminal appeals filed by the state against Mahesh Khattary and others, after the union government requested additional time, citing political turmoil in Nepal.

The matter, involving criminal along with related appeals, was heard yesterday, before a division bench comprising Justice Vivek Singh Thakur and Justice Sushil Kukreja.
