" The underlying proposition is that if we can reduce avoidable wastage of time, we can run trains faster," said an NFR official here. With this aim, already 25 trains' speed have been increased to reduce running time by average 23 minutes. Along with this the stoppage time of 122 trains at different stations has also been reduced. Among these are 33 trains at Guwahati, 16 trains at Rangiya, 71 trains at New Jalpaiguri and 2 trains at Katihar.

It is also being planned to reduce running time of 10 more trains by an average of 24 minutes each in the coming months.
