Patna, July 13 -- Neera, a nutritious, non-alcoholic drink extracted from palm trees seems to be rapidly gaining popularity in Bihar.

Once primarily consumed in rural pockets, Neera is now emerging as a mainstream beverage option appreciated for its health benefits.

According to official data, more than 1.80 crore litres of Neera have been collected during the current season (April 1 to July 10), with over 1.39 crore litres already sold. In the past week alone, 4.87 lakh litres were tapped from palm trees averaging over 1 lakh litres per day. The state has set up 2,309 Neera sale counters to meet the growing demand.
