Chennai, Feb. 11 -- union Fisheries Department Joint Secretary Sagar Mehra on Wednesday said India will shift from volumeto value by strengthening sustainability-driven reforms in the marine sector in the wake of nearly one-third of the global fish catchbeing lost or wasted during post-harvest processing.

Addressing a global workshop on the sidelines of the ongoing World Seafood Congress here, he said reducing post-harvest lossesand strengthening value addition will become central to India's marine ingredients strategy.

He said the sector must now move beyond volume-centric growth towards responsible, sustainable integration across the valuechain.
