NE Monsoon still active, Depression over Bay weakens into Low Pressure area over South Coastal TN

Chenni, Jan. 11 -- Met office on Sunday said the Northeast Monsoon has been active over South Tamilnadueven as the Depression over the Bay, which had weakened into a Well Marked Low Pressure Area, has furtherweakened into a Low Pressure area over South Coastal TN and Gulf of Mannar.

In an update, the Met office said rainfall occurred at a few places over Tamilnadu and at many places over SouthTamilnadu, at a few places over North Tamilnadu and and Karaikal area.

Light rain occurred over Puducherry, even as Chennai city and suburbs has been receiving light to scaterred rainssince this morning accompanied by blustery weather and overcast skies.
