Chennai, Oct. 17 -- After copious rains on the first day of the onset of Northeastmonsoon over Tamil Nadu yesterday, the heavy downpour continued in the state todayalso as Chennai city and suburbs and over 20 districts experiencing rains.
Met office said the NE monsoon has become active and intensified over the State.
After spells of heavy rains during the morning and afternoon, a fresh spell, this timewith more heavier, lashed the city and suburbs tonight.
Apart from inundating several low lying areas and causing discomfort to people whowere thronging bus depots, railway stations and airports to reach their native placesto celebrate the Deepavali festival, the rains resulted in long traffic snarls in variousparts of the city and suburbs...
