Agartala, July 31 -- The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken cognisance of the alleged rape of a 17-year-old girl in Tuikarma in Tripura's Khowai district on July 28 and sought a detailed Action Taken Report in three days from the Director General of Police (DGP).
The NCW today expressed deep anguish over the incident, stating, "The Commission strongly condemns the reported gang rape of a 17-year-old girl in Tripura. Considering the gravity of the matter, Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar has taken suo motu cognisance and written to the DGP to ensure a fair, swift, and time-bound investigation.''
