Mumbai, March 26 -- NCP (AP) legislator from Pimpri assembly constituency, Anna Bansode, was elected unopposed as the Deputy Speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly here on Wednesday, as the Opposition had not fielded its nominee.

Bansode's application was the only one on behalf of the Mahayuti for the post of Deputy Speaker of the Assembly.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis proposed the election of Anna Bansode to the post, which was subsequently approved unanimously.

Then, Speaker Rahul Narvekar announced in the House that Bansode has been elected unopposed for the post of Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly.

Bansode is the 22nd Deputy Speaker of the Assembly. UNI SP SS
