Mumbai, July 16 -- In an emotional moment, senior leader of NCP-SP Jayant Patil broke down in tears as he handed over the reins of the Maharashtra state president post to newly appointed president Shashikant Shinde after a tenure of seven years.
Patil said it was time to give opportunities to new faces, requesting that party supremo Sharad Pawar relieve him of the responsibility.
Acting upon this request, the party leadership appointed Shinde as the new state president, he said.
