Pune, Aug. 7 -- Claiming that the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) has raised serious questions about the transparency of the electoral process and the credibility of the poll machinery, the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) today urged the Election Commission to conduct the upcoming Maharashtra local body elections using traditional paper ballot.
NCP (SP) leader Rahul Kalate expressed disappointment with the Election Commission's decision to conduct the polls via EVMs without the inclusion of Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) systems, which allow voters to verify their cast votes.
