Pune, Dec. 26 -- NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar faction) leader Prashant Jagtap on Friday joined the Indian National Congress at Tilak Bhavan in Dadar in the presence of Maharashtra Congress president Harshvardhan Sapkal.

His switch is expected to have a noticeable impact on local politics. Jagtap had consistently opposed any limited alliance with Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar's party for the upcoming municipal elections.

However, with a decision taken for the two NCP factions to come together for the Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal corporation polls, Jagtap chose to quit the party.
