Mumbai, Dec. 29 -- Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar group) on.Monday suffered a major setback ahead of the Bombay Municipal Corporation elections as Rakhee Jadhav, the party's Mumbai president, joined the Bhartiya Janta Party.

She was appointed as city unit president following the resignation of former Minister Nawab Malik after he was named in a money laundering case under the PMLA act.

This move is seen as a significant blow to NCP-SP's chances in the upcoming civic polls .
