Srinagar, Oct. 19 -- The ruling Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) today announced Agha Syed Mehmood as its candidate for the upcoming bypoll to the Budgam Assembly constituency.
In a statement, the party said the decision was taken on the directions of the party leadership.
"The party extends best wishes to him for a successful campaign in service of the people of Budgam," the NC statement said.
Agha Mehmood, a senior leader of the party and a former minister, has been associated with the NC for several decades. Budgam has been a strong hold the NC not lost this seat since 1987.
