Srinagar, Nov. 27 -- The ruling National Conference (NC) on Thursday began a crucial two-day meeting of its Working Committee in Srinagar to review the party's recent bypoll debacle and deliberate on other major issues facing Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting, convened by party president Farooq Abdullah, is the first major organisational exercise after the NC suffered defeats in two assembly bypolls, including the Budgam seat, considered the party's traditional stronghold.

"During the session, members of the Working Committee will hold comprehensive deliberations on key party affairs, public issues, ongoing political activities, and other matters of organisational importance," an NC leader said.
